Looking ahead to the new training season, Sailing Club “Delfin” has welcomed 25 new members who successfully completed the summer sailing school. This important step continues the club’s tradition of growth and the expansion of its sailing family.
Club President Frano Tripović and Board Member Predrag Lešić organized a meeting with the parents of new members to introduce them to the training system during the winter months. Given the specific nature of sailing, the discussion also touched on the broader educational value of the sport – what children gain through training and time at sea, beyond the technical skills of handling a sailboat.
Sailing teaches children:
- Independence and responsibility – every young sailor is the captain of their own boat.
- Teamwork and solidarity – although sailing is an individual sport, safety and success depend on mutual support.
- Finding one’s way in nature – learning to read the wind, the sea, and the changing skies.
- Discipline and perseverance – regular training and competitions build determination and commitment.
- Maritime skills – children gain the basic knowledge that forms the foundation of every school of seamanship.
Beyond sporting skills, the club’s wish is for Sailing Club Delfin to be a place of meeting and togetherness. During the winter months, while waiting for the wind, children will have the chance to spend time in the clubhouse in creative and meaningful ways – with games, movies, and shared moments. In this way, the club becomes a safe and supportive environment where friendships are built and different interests can grow.
For the youngest members, sailing is not only a sport but also a school of life, offering values and experiences they will carry with them throughout their entire lives.
Sailing Club Delfin continues to build a strong community of children, parents, and coaches, with the optimism that a new generation of sailors will carry on the tradition of success and love for the sea.
