The documentary film “The Wind of Boka” by Dušan Vuleković had its premiere in the Great Hall of the Tivat Cultural Center, as part of the November Days program.

It is a documentary record following this year’s edition of the WindFest, produced by Sailing Club Delfin – a month-long sports, educational, and cultural event aimed at promoting the sustainable use of Tivat and Boka’s natural and cultural heritage as a foundation for development.

After the photo gallery presentation from Wind Fest 2024 by professional photographer Ana Bulatović Lili, the program was opened before a large audience by Jakov Majstorović – Jakov of Boka – who performed on guitar the song “Sokolov greben” by Rambo Amadeus, a favorite of one of the most active “Delfins” in the club’s history, the late Eldin Omeragić Kuba.

This was followed by the introductory screening of the experimental film “GAS”, which explores the relativity of scale in the macro and micro cosmos – an effective prelude to the film “The Wind from Boka.” Unlike last year’s documentary record of the festival by the same author, with “The Wind from Boka” Vuleković, alongside the film’s main protagonist, Delfin member for six decades Boris Pean, brings a story that goes beyond local boundaries and could be told today by coastal communities across almost every corner of the Mediterranean.

“First of all, I would like to thank the organizers for inviting me again this year to collaborate on this project. Last year, in this very place, we presented the film ‘The Town of Fair Winds’, which was a retrospective of the 2023 Festival of the Wind. This year, once again, though with a slightly different concept, we present to you ‘The Wind from Boka’,” said the author, Dušan Vuleković, after the screening in his statement for our radio.

“I would like to thank the people who took part in the production of this film. Besides the festival organizers, first and foremost I wish to thank Boro Pean, who gave us some of his time, his wonderful stories, and his wisdom. I would also like to give special thanks to Svemir Lazarević, who shared with us his beautiful song ‘Naša mila Boko’, which inspired many of the ideas in this film. And to everyone else who contributed to making possible the film we see before us tonight. There are many ways we can talk about how cultural heritage – material above all, but also intangible – is endangered, but I feel much better when something is actually being done to prevent it, or at least slow it down. This film is certainly a small contribution in that direction, and for that I am truly satisfied. Every small step counts,” said Vuleković.

You can watch "Wind of Boka" on Wind Fest Youtube channel, which gives everyone who could not attend last night the chance to watch a film that speaks about us, here and now. A film that powerfully portrays the place of the common man in his struggle to preserve the authenticity of his existence when faced with the challenges and traps of harsh materialism and globalization.
